SoilSense and Ambito: Together for Public Green Spaces

After years of working alongside Italian municipalities, SoilSense is partnering with Ambito — a partner that shares our mission: making the management of urban green spaces easier, more efficient, and more sustainable.

SoilSense is partnering with Ambito to support Italian municipalities in managing their public green spaces.

The partnership combines SoilSense's soil moisture monitoring system with Ambito's Territorial Information System, giving local administrations concrete support for complying with current regulations — in particular Italian Law 10/2013, the Bilancio Arboreo (Tree Balance) law.

What is the Bilancio Arboreo?

Law 10/2013, titled "Rules for the development of urban green spaces", requires every Italian municipality with more than 15,000 inhabitants to produce a Bilancio Arboreo (Tree Balance) at the end of each administrative term. The balance must document the precise number of trees on municipal territory and plan the planting of one tree for every newborn or adopted child. The goal is to improve urban quality of life through sustainable management of public green spaces.

The integrated SoilSense × Ambito solution

Ambito's WebSIT platform — a Territorial Information System dedicated to the management of public green spaces — lets municipalities digitally map their green areas, track maintenance interventions, and stay compliant with regulations. It gives a clear view of the health status of each tree, supporting the planning of necessary interventions.

The integration with SoilSense sensors adds significant value. SoilSense sensors, deployed across urban green areas, monitor essential parameters such as soil moisture and water availability for plants. This data is transmitted directly into WebSIT, giving green-space managers real-time information for better-informed decisions and targeted maintenance.

Launch webinar: "Bilancio Arboreo: tools and strategies for municipalities"

To launch this solution and show how Italian municipalities can adopt it, SoilSense and Ambito hosted a free webinar: "Bilancio Arboreo: tools and strategies for municipalities."
